This cute crocheted sausage dog by Rico Design, will make an adorable teddy for anyone, young or old.

You will need

Rico Creative Cotton Aran, 100% cotton (85m per 50g ball)

2 x 50g balls 64 pink

2 x 50g balls 40 light green

1 x 50g ball 52 pearl grey

Small amounts of

90 black

37 sky blue

3.5mm Rico crochet hook

tapestry needle

wadding material

 

SPECIAL ABBREVIATIONS

Dc2tog: Work 2 dc together (to decrease)

 

HEAD

Work in pink.

Cast on 5 ch + 1 ch for turning.

Row 1: 5 dc.

Row 2: Inc 1 st at each end of row, by working 2 dc into first and last dc (7 sts).

Row 3 and every other odd numbered row to 27th row: Dc.

Row 4: Work 2 dc into first dc, 2 dc, 3 dc into centre st, 2 dc, 2 dc into last dc (11 sts).

Row 6: Inc 1 st at each end of row, by working 2 dc into first and last dc (13 sts).

Row 8: Work 2 dc into first dc, 5 dc, 3 dc into centre st, 5 dc, 2 dc into last dc (17 sts).

Row 10: Inc 1 st at each end of row, by working 2 dc into first and last dc (19 sts).

Row 12: Work 2 dc into first dc, 8 dc, 3 dc into centre st, 8 dc, 2 dc into last dc (23 sts).

Work 27th row, then close lower seam and continue in rounds:

BODY

Work in pink to 26th row, continue in light green.

First lower part: Cast on 11 ch + 1 ch for turning.

Row 1 to 4: Dc. At the end of 4th row cast on 8 ch + 1 ch for leg.

Row 5 to 9: dc. Cut yarn.

Second lower part: Cast on 11 ch + 1 ch.

Row 1 to 4: dc. At the end of 4th row cast on 8 ch + 1 ch for leg.

Row 5 to 9: Dc. Cut yarn.

Round 10: Cast on 8 ch for lower belly, take first lower part, leave 6 sts of leg unworked, continue with working 13 dc, take second lower part, work 13 dc, leave last 6 sts of leg unworked, cast on 8 ch + 1 ch for turning (42 sts).

Row 11 to 40: Dc. Break yarn.

Row 41: Cast on 6 ch, leave first 8 sts of belly unworked, 26 dc, cast on 6 ch + 1 ch, leave last 8 sts of belly unworked.

Row 42 to 48: Dc.

Row 49 and 50: Work dc into centre 22 sts.

 

Front insertion of lower body and inner legs

Work in pink.

Cast on 24 ch + 1 ch.

1st to 5th row: dc.

 

Back insertion of lower body and inner legs

Work in light green.

Cast on 24 ch + 1 ch.

Row 1 to 7: Dc.

 

TAIL

Work in pearl grey to 3cm, continue with light green.

Work 4 dc into a double loop.

1st round: work 2 dc into each dc (8 sts).

Continue in dc to 7cm length.

 

PAWS (work 4 times)

Work 2 paws in pink and 2 paws in light green.

Work 6 dc into a double loop.

Round 1: Work 2 dc into each dc (12 sts).

Round 2 to 5: Dc.

 

EARS (make 4 pieces)

Work 2 pieces in pink and 2 pieces in pearl grey.

Cast on 6 ch +1 ch.

Row 1: Dc.

Row 2: Inc 1 st at each end of row, by working 2 dc into first and last dc (8 sts).

Row 3: Dc.

Row 4: Inc 1 st at each end of row, by working 2 dc into first and last dc (10 sts).

Row 5 to 7: Dc.

Row 8: Dec 1 st at each end of row (8 sts).

Row 9 and 10: dc.

Row 11: Dec 1 st at each end of row (6 sts).

Row 12: Dc.

Row 13: Dec 1 st at each end of row (4 sts).

Row 14 to 21: Dc.

 

NOSE

Work in black.

Work 4 dc into a double loop.

Round 1: Dc.

Round 2: Dc, work 2 dc into next st,
repeat (6 sts).

Round 3: Dc.

 

TO MAKE UP

Close seam of head leaving a 3cm opening and fill with wadding material, close remaining seam.

Fold body to half, sew in both insertions, close leg seams and lower belly seam.

Fill paws with wadding material and sew to legs. Fill body, legs and tail with wadding material. Using pink and dc close ear seams as shown in photo.

Sew pieces together and embroider as shown in photo above.
