The bumper October issue of Knitting is always our favourite. Knitting really comes into its own in autumn and winter and we love to look at the new season trends and which shapes and shades will be influencing our knits for the next year to come.

(Here's a sneak peek...)

K147_P18-19_Fashion Forecast

We also have a bumper crop of gorgeous, fashionable, wearable designs for you to pore over, add to your queue and wear with pride.

We have two trend stories in this issue; City Style and Simple Shapes.
There was a strong emphasis on urban chic on the catwalks for A/W15. Gone is the boho/folklore/festival look of summer, this autumn is about looking polished, ladylike and yet undeniably stylish.

On the other hand, Simple shapes captures the more relaxed, fun feel of autumn, where you can take a simple shape, a cardigan or jumper, and experiment with shades, texture and stitches to your heart's content.

K143 Final Cover

At last, the weather is catching up with our needles! The sun is shining and our bright July issue has just landed on my desk. I can actually see knits that I can wear now!

This month we bring you a collection of bright, pretty, summery patterns for enjoying the British summer outside. There is a selection of pretty summer tops; the Vintage lace fantasy (below) and Button back tee are both short sleeved for when the sun comes out. British summers usually involve jumpers so we have a included both the Bright lace jumper (cover) and the snuggly Denim cable neck jumper. The Anenome lace cardi is knitted in alpaca so is gorgeously soft and will make a perfect cover up for summer parties and weddings, while the Beaded tunic and Elda mohair tops are great for throwing over shorts or a skirt when out and about if the sun goes in.

K142 Final Cover

Sometimes, an issue comes along that is everything we hoped it would be, and more. The stars align, the weather behaved for the shoot, the model was gorgeous (and fun!), the knits are beautiful and we just end up in love with the whole thing. This is that issue.

When this bright, fun, beautiful issue landed on my desk screaming 'Get ready for summer' I could feel my spirit lifting and that little spark of excitement at that first hint of summer; what am I going to do, what am going to wear, where am I going to go? No wonder there's a hashtag trending on Twitter saying #CANTWAITFORSUMMER. I really can't!

So, this month we bring you a gorgeous collection of pretty, feminine, early summer knits. Lighter yarns, brighter shades, a hint of luxury silk and mohair, what more could you want? (a parasol, a G&T and a punnet of strawberries. Or is that just me?)

Easter (edible) inspiration!http://www.craftsinstitute.com/knitting/blog/easter-edible-inspiration/Wed, 25 Mar 2015 11:17:01 GMThttp://www.craftsinstitute.com/knitting/blog/easter-edible-inspiration/

It seems Christmas was barely over before the first Easter egg appeared on the supermarket shelves. At the time I refused to even give it the time of the day, but over the last few weeks I've been noticing a trend in Easter-related sweet treats cropping up all over the place.

Now, there are still the ubiquitous bunnies and chicks, and the slightly more tenuous carrots and rabbit paws, but I have been noticing time and time again the increasingly popular appearance of the chocolate sheep!

So for the sheepy/wool/yarn lovers out there, here's some (edible) inspiration for Easter!

Spring is nearly here, there are daffodils and snowdrops popping up all over the place, and I can tell you, I am really ready for it! I'm craving bright colours and lighter knits after what feels like an age since winter began. Luckily for you lot, we have some gorgeous knits in our April issue, ready to make you feel lighter and brighter in no time.

This fab pink jumper is an original Sirdar design, reknitted in their gorgeous new textured yarn, Beachcomber, a must for summer. We love the interesting colour and texture in the Cropped cable jumper, knitted using two strands of Debbie Bliss Angel and Rialto 4 ply in complementing shades of green, which gives a depth of colour and soft, hazy fabric.
