Hen, chicks and eggs knitting pattern

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Which came first? It doesn't matter as you can whip up all three in time for Easter!

DID YOU KNOW?
The chicken is the closest living relative of the T-rex!
There are more hens than people in the world.
The average hen lays 227 eggs a year.
The colour of her first egg is the colour she will lay for life.
Hens that lay brown eggs have brownish red feathers and ear lobes. White eggs come from hens with white feathers and white ear lobes. Astonishingly, hens can even lay green, pink and blue eggs. They will produce larger eggs as they grow older.
The largest hen egg ever laid weighed 1lb (almost 0.5kg) and had a double yolk and shell.
