To get into the festive spirit, we speak to adventuress and author of Steampunk Apothecary, Emilly Ladybird, (aka crafter Jema Hewitt's alter ego) to find out what she has planned for the festive period this year.
How will you be celebrating Christmas this year?
I love winter, coming in from the snow and snuggling next to a lovely log fire, so Christmas Day will be spent at home with an assortment of rambunctious animals, I shall be creating a variety of seasonal cocktails and trying to keep Mr Woppit out of the carrot juice!
What will you be wearing and will there be jewellery to match?
My Christmas dress is red silk with a very full skirt, not too long, so you can see my beautiful red shoes, I shall match the dress with a drink-me bracelet from "Steampunk Apothecary!"
How will your tree be decorated?
My tree is a lovely black one and it is adorned with tiny white lights, jewel-coloured birds and miniature princess and fairy dresses! I also have many exquisite baubles created for me by clever friends!
What does the New Year hold in store for Emilly Ladybird?
I am terribly excited about my exhibits for the Royal Greenwich Observatory's longitude punk'd exhibition! It's going to be wonderful. I also have some lovely fairy festivals I'm going to as a guest author and I'm working on a novel of my adventures!
Jema “Emilly Ladybird” Hewitt will be at Waterstones in Bradford this Saturday, 7th December between 2 and 3.30pm, to tell tales of her adventures and demonstrate some of the wonderful projects from Steampunk Apothecary (£14.99, available from www.thegmcgroup.com). If you’re in the area, make sure you pop by!
We have one copy of Steampunk Apothecary: Creat Enchanting Jewellery and Accessories to give away!
