Karen Bamford snatches ten minutes with Bea Broadwood of Petite Properties

1. In the miniatures world I'm best known for… making authentic smaller scale dolls' houses and kits in 1:24, 1:48 and 1:144. I am also the author of several books on making smaller scale miniatures too.

2. Period perfectionist or anything goes? When it comes to architecture, then it has to be authentic and I always spend a lot of time researching my designs, so that they both reflect and have the 'feel' of 'real' houses, cottages and shops. However, as for the cleanliness of my workshop - that is definitely a case of 'anything goes'!

3. My favourite scale is… the scale that I began with almost ten years ago - 1:24! Perhaps as I was born on the 24th it was a destiny that was written in the stars, but with that said in the last few years I have been working extensively in 1:48 and I have to say I have found it totally addictive.

4. When I'm not making miniatures, I'm… either sketching, pottering in my garden, cooking or spending time with my family. Who knew my life was so 'rock and roll'?

5. My best moment was… without doubt marrying Mr Bea, but in my professional life it was probably walking into a newsagent's shop and seeing myself on the front cover of The Dolls' House magazine. The lady on the till even recognised me. I now (regularly) remind Mr Bea he married a cover girl LOL!

6. My most embarrassing memory is… definitely unprintable!

7. My dream dolls' house would look like… an achingly humble Purbeck stone cottage from Corfe village in Dorset.

8. I'd love to have dinner with… the Queen, as after 60 years on the throne I bet she would have more than a few great stories to tell, after a few sherries of course.

9. The best advice I've ever had was…  "do a job you love and you will never have to work a day in life" - a mantra I definitely live by!

10. My favourite film is… arrrgghhh so hard to pick just one, but at the moment it would have to be 300... thanks in part to the amazing cinematography and also to the on screen presence of 'King Leonidas' *Cue the swooning!
